More Information
The Department of Public Utilities operates a variety of regulatory programs to ensure proper use of the City’s infrastructure in order to maintain its quality and lifespan.
In order to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations, the City is required to administer regulatory programs for Backflow Prevention and Cross-Connection Control, Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) reduction, and Brewery Discharge monitoring.
These programs were developed to protect the City’s water supply from backflow events, and to minimize the potential for sanitary sewer overflows.
