The sanitary sewer pump station located at 5721 Susquehanna Drive will be demolished and a new pump station will be constructed at the same location.
Project Update: Starting Sept. 22, Susquehanna Drive will be closed between E. Chickasaw Road and Cheyenne Road to safely facilitate utility work. Traffic will be detoured via E. Chickasaw Road, Bannock Road, and Cheyenne Road. This closure will be in place for approximately 8 weeks, weather permitting.
As part the City of Virginia Beach Department of Public Utilities’ Aging Infrastructure Program, the department is replacing the sanitary sewer pump station located at 5721 Susquehanna Drive. The pump station, built in 1959, has reached the end of its useful life. A new pump station will be constructed on the existing site and approximately 300 feet of gravity sewer main will be replaced and realigned. Once completed, the expected service life of the pump station is at least 60 years.
