The Department of Public Utilities is replacing the sanitary sewer pump station located at 1649 Waff Road. The pump station, built in 1974, has reached the end of its useful life and has experienced ongoing pumping issues. A new pump station will be constructed at the same location with upgraded pumping equipment.
Additionally, a permanent generator will be installed as a backup power source. Once completed, the expected service life of the pump station is at least 60 years.
This project is being done as part the City of Virginia Beach Department of Public Utilities’ Aging Infrastructure Program.
