UPDATE JULY 2025 – The bowl has been raised onto the pedestal of the new 165-foot-tall water tank. The next stages of this project will include the construction of the top of the bowl, interior coating, and installation of electrical and plumbing components within the tank.
The Department of Public Utilities is replacing the elevated water tank located at 1904 Thomas Bishop Lane as part of the department's Aging Infrastructure Program.
The water tank, built in 1980, has reached the end of its useful life. The new water tank will be constructed in the same location.
Once completed, the new water tank will help stabilize water pressures and improve capacities for area customers and firefighting events.
The new water tank is scheduled to come online in early 2026 and will have an expected service life of 40+ years.
